Advocacy

Numerous services to inform and protect students are provided by the University and Iowa City communities. Several resources are available that provide services to meet the medical, emotional, informational, and safety needs of students.

UI Policies and Regulations

An important resource, Policies and Regulations Affecting Students, outlines the rights and responsibilities granted to every student in the university community. These policies are posted athttp://dos.uiowa.edu. A week after fall semester begins, each student will receive an e-mail notice about the policies. It’s important that you familiarize yourself not only with the rules but with the avenues available for you to voice grievances. Copies of the document are available at the Dean of Students Office, 135 Iowa Memorial Union.

Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity

This office provides leadership and resources that support the University’s goal to foster a diverse and inclusive community. Students, faculty, and staff may contact the office to discuss complaints of harassment or discrimination based on race, national origin, creed, color, religion, age, sex, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or associational preference.
